History

Unlike other national universities in Taiwan, NCUT was originally established  as a private institution in 1971. Later, the founders General Chang Ming and Ms. Wang Kuo-hsiu donated the school to the government as contribution to the society. In recognition of their contributions, they were awarded presidential honor by the then President Lee Teng-hui and President Chen Shiu-bian in 1992 and 2005 respectively
